College and School Curricula
Each college and school at Notre Dame has its own requirements in addition to the Core Curriculum. The pages in this section outline the requirements for each college and school and explain which of these requirements must be taken in the first year.
You only have to complete the requirements for the college or school that houses your primary major. For instance, if your primary major is chemistry (which is in the College of Science) and your second major or minor is history (which is in the College of Arts and Letters), you only have to complete the Science college requirements, not the Arts and Letters college requirements.
These pages also outline major requirements that must be taken in the first year. There are no minor requirements that must be taken in the first year, although if you are considering a minor in a language, you are strongly encouraged to take a language course in each semester of your first year if possible.
