Academic Engagement

At Notre Dame, academic inquiry and self-discovery go hand-in-hand. We encourage you to ask the big questions: What are my values? What do I believe? How can my passions contribute to the common good? And, you don’t have to seek the answers alone. We believe education takes place in the context of genuine and meaningful communion with others. As you explore our community’s extensive resources, you will encounter expert staff and faculty that are passionate about intellectual exploration and dedicated to helping you embrace the joy of discovery.

Your academic journey will be enriched by surprises and exploration, so explore!

What will be your First Lecture at Notre Dame?

Each Welcome Weekend, Notre Dame faculty join you in your first moments on campus to thoughtfully consider a response to two fundamental questions of a life well-lived.

Encounter the First Year at Notre Dame

Encounters is a public archive of personal narratives from first-year students at Notre Dame. The project, born from the Moreau First Year Experience course, seeks to give voice to the first-year student experience, reflecting both the diversity and commonality within this year of transitions.
