Dear incoming first-year students,
On behalf of the entire First Year Advising team, welcome to Notre Dame! We are excited to accompany you as you join our academic community.
Your first year at Notre Dame is a time of discernment and discovery. To guide you through this period of transition, we provide personalized, one-on-one academic advising. In early June, you will begin working with one of our first-year advisors, a professional academic advisor who will support you through the registration process this summer. Your advisor will help you explore your curricular options, select courses for the fall semester, and learn Notre Dame’s registration system.
Throughout the summer and the academic year, you will receive regular communications from the Center for University Advising and your advisor via your Notre Dame Gmail account. It is therefore essential that you activate your NetID and access your new email account now and that you check your inbox daily.
If you haven't already received it, an email from "Okta" will soon be sent to you with additional directions to activate your NetID.

Your primary academic goal this summer is to register for courses based on your intellectual interests and the University’s curriculum. To help you understand and manage this process, we have created a First-Year Student Summer 2024 Timeline and a First-Year Student Summer 2024 To-Do List. Please review these pages carefully now and refer to them regularly.
The first item on the To-Do List, aside from activating your NetId and ND Gmail, is our Pre-Advising Academic Survey. This survey will be sent to your Notre Dame Gmail account on Tuesday, May 7. Please submit your response to this survey by May 21 so that we can provide you with the advising that you need.
We are delighted that you have chosen to continue your education at Notre Dame. We look forward to meeting with you virtually this summer and welcoming you to campus in August.
