Kristian Lax-Walker is an academic advisor for first-year students who plan to study in the College of Science. Lax-Walker is an Assistant Advising Professor, and her advisees are primarily students who intend to major in Neuroscience or Biology. She also advises student athletes.

Lax-Walker earned a B.A. in Speech Communication with a minor in Psychology from Indiana University South Bend and an M.S. in Academic Advising from Kansas State University where she took additional course work with a focus on college student athletes. She is a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

Lax-Walker's advising philosophy centers on developmental academic advising, which considers the whole-person and aims to move students toward success, while recognizing the individual context of their life experience and the impact it has on their transition into college life and beyond.

In addition to Lax-Walker's work with first-year students, she also works to implement programming for first generation students. In 2016 she was the recipient of the Team Irish Presidential Award for her leadership role with the Mandela Washington Fellowship, a U.S. Department of State program.
